Union Plus benefits are for union members, retirees and their families.

How to Position Union Plus Benefits on Your Union Website

1) Put yourself in an average user's shoes. Why do users come to your site? Reasons probably include: 1) to find out how to join the union and 2) to see what the union has to offer or what value they get from the union. We know that a lot of members visit their union's sites so they can find out more about benefits information.

Pretend you're interested in joining the union, but want to know why you should. Where would you find information on your site? Does that section of your site include Union Plus benefits information?

Next, pretend you're an existing member, but you want to know what deals your membership offers. Where would you find information on your site? How many clicks does it take to get you there? Are there ways you can reconfigure the content to answer these questions? If only the name "Union Privilege" or "Union Plus" is listed on your site, would the average user know what that meant?

  • Develop a "Member Benefits" section on your web site. Avoid labels that your users won't understand - e.g. Union Privilege Programs. A benefits section lets your members know the value union membership brings to them. In this section, you can provide information not only on Union Plus programs, but your other union benefits.

  • Avoid having the Union Plus link only in an "Other Links" list. Union Plus benefits are often an integral part of the reason union members sign up for and/or retain their union membership. So tying the Union Plus programs into main sections of your site will attract more users to the benefits of union membership.

  • Use a more detailed description for any text links - e.g. "Money-saving Union Plus benefits for union members" is easier for your members to understand than simply "Union Plus benefits". We also recommend using our brand name Union Plus instead of Union Privilege and the URL: www.unionplus.org.

2) Automated Web Banners - it's easy!

3) Want to list short descriptions for all your union's Union Plus programs on your site?
