Independence Day was just a little more special for union members. Between grilling our union made hot dogs and sipping our union made beer, we spent our day taking pride in the country built by ideals of solidarity for our brothers and sisters.

With so much pride on the 4th of July, it's no wonder almost 700 union members have already sent in photos of their pets to the Union Plus Photo Contest (Hurry! The fun ends August 8) for a chance to win a FREE Year-long membership to Union Plus Pet Health Insurance.

To celebrate, these 12 union pets wanted to share how to be the most patriotic on the 4th of July!

You must stay up all night working on your outfit.

Because once you're done, Uncle Sam can eat his heart out.

Never be afraid to stand up for what you believe in.

But don't be too proud to beg for help (or food).

Go ahead, show a little attitude…

 â€¦or A LOT of attitude…

 â€¦and a little cowboy…

But always keep your friends and family close.

Shout your pride from the rooftops!

Don't forget to wave your American flag.

Or really wave your flags.

But most of all, never forgot about what union members do every day to make this country great.

Help if you don’t know your union

Your union membership dictates which Union Plus benefits you are eligible to use.

  1. What your national union’s name (not just your local number)? Scroll through the list we have to see if you recognize your union.
  2. What type of work do you do (select your occupation)?
  3. Do you have a union member card or union publication/letter that shows the name of your union? Find something with the name of your union, not just a local number.
  4. Is there a shop steward or work colleague you can ask what the name of your union is? You can even ask your human resources department to tell you the full name of your union?
  5. Do you have a Union Plus Credit Card? If so, the name and logo for your international union should appear on the front of the card.

Union Plus Credit Card

Union members are automatically eligible for their union's Union Plus benefits and you do not need to be a Union Plus Credit Cardholder in order to access your union's Union Plus benefits.

But - if you are a Union Plus Credit Cardholder, you could be eligible for additional discounts.
