It's up to YOU to determine our Charity of the Year

Each year, Union Privilege selects a charity to support continuously for a year and develop a giving partnership. Throughout the year, we will host a variety of fundraisers, charitable giving drives and most notably hold a Service Day for our employees to lend a hand to the charity on site!

Union Privilege's Charity of 2012 will be determined by our Facebook and Twitter fans--in other words, YOU!

Here's a look into the 3 charities you have to choose from:

  1. DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR)
  2. The District of Columbia Department of Parks and Recreation’s mission is to enhance the quality of life and wellness of DC residents and visitors by providing equal access to affordable and quality recreational services. The DC Department of Parks and Recreation:

    • Maintains over 900 acres of parkland, 68 recreation and community centers, 40 aquatic facilities, and additional recreational facilities including playgrounds, athletic fields and play courts
    • Organizes programs, activities and events for DC's youth, adults and elderly
    • Gives DC residents the tools they need to live an active, healthy lifestyle by building and maintaining safe and beautiful open spaces and recreational amenities
       
  3. Bright Beginnings
  4. Bright Beginnings is a nationally-recognized developmental childcare center for children whose families are in transition housing or are homeless. Bright Beginnings:

    • Provides high quality education to 150 at-risk infants, toddlers and preschoolers a year
    • Gives students a structured curriculum that caters to the social, cognitive, physical and emotional needs of homeless children
    • Stabilizes the families of their students through their comprehensive, family-oriented and on-site services approach
       
  5. DC Central Kitchen
  6. DC Central Kitchen turns leftover food into millions of meals for thousands of at-risk individuals while offering nationally-recognized culinary job training to once homeless and hungry adults. DC Central Kitchen:

    • Produces 4,500 meals a day that they distribute to 100 shelters, transitional homes, and rehabilitation clinics throughout the DC area
    • Provides a Culinary Job Training program to their clients, where they receive tools to start new careers
    • Employs their graduates in their own full-service catering company or by places them in full-time jobs at restaurants and hotels throughout the region
