Union couple saves smart with Union Plus benefits
Robert Couch of Martinsville, IN, has been a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1393 for 37 years.
That’s long enough to remember when phones had cords and “text” meant words printed on paper. Long enough for two of his five grown sons to follow him into the IBEW!
But times have changed. These days Robert carries a smartphone, and his wife Nancy was thinking maybe it was time for her to get one, too.
“I only started texting three years ago,” she says. “Since then the kids have been telling me I should move up and get a smartphone.”
But as anyone who has shopped for a smartphone knows, they can be very expensive. Some models cost up to $400 and service can be expensive as well. “I’m into saving money all I can,” Nancy says. “I was waiting to buy one because the prices are so high.”
That’s why Robert and Nancy were excited to learn that Union Plus offers rebates of up to $100 to Union Plus Credit Card holders who upgrade to a new smartphone with AT&T, the only national unionized wireless provider. The $100 rebate is on top of the 15% Union Plus discount on select AT&T wireless service plans that thousands of union families are already using to save money.
“We already have the Union Plus Credit Card,” Nancy says, “and we also save 15% on our AT&T wireless plan thanks to the union discount. I always look to see what new savings programs Union Plus has to offer. When I saw they could help us save $100 on a smartphone,” Nancy remembers, “I said ‘Oh, Wow!’”
Next up for the Couches is a new set of Goodyear tires, with 5% savings from Union Plus.
“We save money with Union Plus every chance we get,” Nancy says.
With the Union Plus rebate offer, union members who use their Union Plus Credit Card to purchase qualifying AT&T services, along with a new mobile device, can receive a rebate to help cover the costs of the qualifying smartphone upgrade. This rebate can be also be used toward one month of the qualifying data plan services, up to a total rebate of $100.
And union members who switch from a non-union wireless provider like Verizon wireless, Sprint or T-Mobile are eligible to apply for an additional $100 rebate to cover any cancellation fees and other costs to switch, making the savings up to a total of $200.
