How the "Welcome to Your First-Home Award" works:

If you're an active or retired union member and used Union Plus Mortgage to purchase your first home, we'd like to hear from you. Share your story by completing an application and providing us a short, written description of your experience with the Union Plus Mortgage process and what owning your first home means to you. As a token of appreciation for your story, we'll send you a check for $500*.

*Normal processing time for award checks is 60-90 days after we receive a complete application package.

  • All dues-paying labor union members
  • Union member retirees
  • Spouse and domestic partners of union members
  • Parents and children of union members
  • Working America (WA) members who have been WA members for at least one year.
  • Alliance for Retired American members who are retired union members are eligible.
Mortgage loans are available in the United States only and currently not available in Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico or Virgin Islands.
  • ONLY current/retired union members are eligible for the Welcome to Your First Home Award.
  • ONLY current/retired union members, their spouses, parents and children are eligible for the Union Plus mortgage assistance program.

    Help if you don’t know your union

    Your union membership dictates which Union Plus benefits you are eligible to use.

    1. What your national union’s name (not just your local number)? Scroll through the list we have to see if you recognize your union.
    2. What type of work do you do (select your occupation)?
    3. Do you have a union member card or union publication/letter that shows the name of your union? Find something with the name of your union, not just a local number.
    4. Is there a shop steward or work colleague you can ask what the name of your union is? You can even ask your human resources department to tell you the full name of your union?
    5. Do you have a Union Plus Credit Card? If so, the name and logo for your international union should appear on the front of the card.
