Exclusively for Union Plus Auto Insurance Policyholders

Union Privilege is offering money in the form of driver education grants to Union Plus Auto Insurance policyholders who take one of the following three driving courses.

Anyone insured on your Union Plus Auto Insurance policy is eligible for refunds on driver education courses completed 6 months before or any time after you become a Union Plus Auto Insurance policyholder. That means you could take the class for free!

By taking one of the three driving courses, union members may be also eligible for discounts on their auto insurance premiums. Auto insurance premium discount availability varies by state.

  1. Defensive Driving
  2. 55 Alive
  3. Driver Training
  4. How to Apply for the Union Plus Driver Education Grants

  1. Defensive Driving

Did you know that in some states, if you complete a defensive driving course to improve your driver education experience, you can reduce your auto insurance premium by up to 10%?

To help union members save on their car insurance, Union Privilege is offering grant money for Union Plus  Auto Insurance policyholders to take a certified defensive driving course.

    How it works:

    • Find out if there's a certified defensive driving course in your state. You can check your state's Department of Motor Vehicles site at www.dmv.org.
    • If your state offers the defensive driving course, the driver education programs typically include 4-6 hours of classroom time.
    • Once the defensive driving course is completed, the driver takes a state approved certification test. Upon passing the test, the state will issue a defensive driving certificate that is accepted by auto insurance providers. Submit your certificate to Union Plus Auto Insurance from 21st Century to receive your state's savings on auto insurance. Call 21st Century customer service at 1-800-672-9569 to find out what documentation is needed for your state.
    • To receive the driver education grant money to cover the entire cost of the defensive driving program, follow the instructions to apply below.
  2. 55 Alive

Drivers aged 55 and older can save through a program developed by the National Safety Counsel and the AARP called 55 Alive. If older drivers complete the 55 Alive program, they're eligible for savings of up to 20% on their auto insurance premium in participating states.

    How it works:

    • Find out if there's a 55 Alive course in your area by clicking here or calling 1-888-227-7669.
    • 55 Alive classes include 8 hours of classroom training. After completing the 55 Alive driving instruction, the driver is issued a certificate of completion that is accepted by auto insurance providers in participating states to help you save on auto insurance premiums. Submit your certificate to Union Plus Auto Insurance from 21st Century to receive your state's savings on auto insurance. The discount will be applied at your next policy renewal. Call 21st Century customer service at 1-800-672-9569 to find out what documentation is needed for your state.
    • To receive driver education grant money to cover the entire cost of the 55 Alive program, follow the instructions to apply below.
  3. Driver Training

First-time drivers should take a driver training course in order to receive their driver's license. If the driver is under 21 and on your Union Plus Auto Insurance policy, you will save on your auto insurance premiums. Through the Union Plus Driver Education Grant Program, Union Plus Auto Insurance policyholders may receive up to $250 to help cover the cost of the driver training.

    How it works:

    • Find out if there's a certified driver training course in your state. You can check your state's Department of Motor Vehicles site at www.dmv.org.
    • If your state offers the driver training course, the course typically consists of 24 hours of classroom instruction and between 8-16 hours of behind-the-wheel practice.
    • Once the driver training course is completed, submit satisfactory evidence of completion of an approved driver education course to Union Plus Auto Insurance from 21st Century and they will apply driver training credits to your policy. Call 21st Century customer service at 1-800-672-9569 to find out what documentation is needed for your state.
    • To receive driver education grant money to cover up to $250 for the driver training program, follow the instructions to apply below.
