30 ways to get the word out about Union Plus benefits
There are countless ways to promote the benefits to your members. Following is what we know from union leaders who use the benefits.

- USE the benefits and tell us what you think! If you have a good experience, be sure to tell us AND your fellow union members. If something falls short, let us know and we'll work with you to resolve any issues.
- Include benefits information in new union member welcome kits.
- Post a Union Plus flyer on a bulletin board at union work sites, lunch rooms, etc.
- Hold a seminar for spouses of union members. For instance, wives often manage household expenses and are typically very interested in discounts.
- Order free Union Plus materials to distribute at union meetings, etc.
- Show the Union Plus "Smart Credit Strategies" webinar at your next union meeting. Or show the Union Plus 101 presentation for basic information on Union Plus and the benefits offered.
- Invite a Union Plus lawyer in your area to speak about a topic of interest - e.g. wills/estate planning.
- Insert benefits brochures in employee mailboxes at union work sites.
- Print a handy benefits guide (PDF) at UnionPlus.org/PDFGuide. Either make copies or tell your members to visit UnionPlus.org/PDFGuide for their own use!
- Place a display case in a high-traffic union member area - e.g. lunchroom, union hall, training center, etc.
- Train your shop stewards about the benefits. Show your leaders & shop stewards the Union Plus 101 presentation for basic information on Union Plus and the benefits offered so they can inform your members too.
- Insert benefits information in union member paycheck envelopes.
- Tell 5 other union leaders how the benefits have made a difference to your local.
- Hold a seminar about retirement and show UnionPlusRetirement.org.
- Use the benefits in organizing campaigns - enticing new members to join with the Union Plus programs.
- Some unions in Right-to-Work states send letters to non-members using the benefits as a tool to help recruit new members.
- Regularly place Union Plus ads and articles in your union publication(s). Don't see what you're looking for? Contact leaders@unionprivilege.org or 1-800-472-2005.
- Make sure Union Privilege, 1125 15th Street, NW, Suite 300, Washington, DC 20005 is on your union publication mailing list. If you include Union Plus ads/articles, your union could be eligible for a cash reward. (See the promotion contest page for details.)
- Some unions conduct member mailings, either sending out select benefit materials such as all member benefit brochures, an application for the free $20,000 accidental death (AD) insurance, etc. Some unions include benefit materials along with other information they are sending out.
- Tell 10 other union members how you've used the benefits and why they should take advantage of them too.
- How are you celebrating Labor Day? Having a union summer event? Ensure you have Union Plus materials to distribute. Call 1-800-472-2005 or order free materials online.
- Invite AT&T reps in your area to attend your next event. They can bring phones and accessories for your members to "test" and then purchase with the 15% Union Plus discount. Remember: AT&T wireless is the only unionized wireless company. Contact leaders@unionprivilege.org or 1-800-472-2005 for an AT&T rep in your area.
- Hold a benefits fair and distribute materials about the benefits.
- Announce the Union Plus college scholarships and encourage union members and their children to apply.
- Contact a Union Plus Mortgage rep (from Chase) in your area and see how he/she can help promote the special mortgage program to your union members, including a seminar on buying a new home, refinancing, etc.
- Interested in a financial seminar? Union Plus Credit Counseling reps may be able to assist. Contact leaders@unionprivilege.org.
- Offer group benefits that the local pays for - e.g. health savings.
- Send a letter from your local president/on local union letterhead, explaining the benefits of Union Plus programs. See a template available here.
- Email your members and refer them to UnionPlus.org for all their union's Union Plus benefits information.
- Post Green in a Minute or Credit Doctor videos on your website.
