Do you know which items are illegal to take through airport security checkpoints?

Be careful when you pack your carry-on bag. Of course, any kind of weapon is prohibited, but so are everyday items like sports equipment (bats, hockey sticks) and tools (screwdrivers, hammers). Check out the Transportation Security Administration's website for the list of items banned from carry-on baggage.

There are lots of car games that will help keep your children entertained on long road trips ?

Try counting cows: Create teams based on where people are in the car. Each team counts the cows they see on their side of the car. The team with the most cows by the end of the trip wins. For older kids, play the geography game. The first player names a city - for example "Washington". The next person has to name a city starting with the last letter of the first word - in this example, an "N" as in "New York". No repeats, and cities have to be actual places. Stumped players drop out and the game continues until only one person is left and wins the game.

What are the outermost points in the United States?

  • Furthest north: Point Barrow, Alaska.
  • Further east: West Quoddy Head, Maine.
  • You can't get any further south in the U.S. than Ka Lae (South Cape), Hawaii.
  • Any further west than Cape Wrangell, Alaska, and you're in the Pacific.
