What Information We Collect
If you complete the profile section of the Union Plus website, we ask for basic information such as your name, email address and member benefit interests. Any information we collect helps us better serve you and improve Union Plus programs.
You do not have to provide any personal information on the Union Plus website unless you choose to do so. We will NEVER ask for your full credit card or Social Security Number on our website or through email.
We can tailor and personalize content based on your preferences and profile. You may update or correct your personal information at any time by logging in and updating your profile pages. If you choose to create a password on the Union Plus site, the password is securely encrypted.
On our site, we do set cookies. A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. Cookies are used to help personalize the online experience for the user — based on the action you request. If you submit your union affiliation, you receive a customized home page with your union's eligible Union Plus benefits.
When you visit this website, we may re-target advertising to you, through online and offline methods including email, display media and direct mail. This advertising may be directed to you because you visited, registered or logged in to our website. When we generate this advertising, we may work with a data partner to “match” your online IP address to likely or potential corresponding household or email addresses, and thus target or retargets ads to you based on your interest in our website. You may opt out of this service here and we’ll remove you from marketing within a month.
We do not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.
- Usage Information
We may record information about your usage of the Union Plus site, such as when you use the site, the areas of the site you click on and/or participate in and the tags you search for. If you are log in to the site, we may pre-populate information in your profile. A persistent cookie may also be used to track this information.
Personal and Financial Information Security
The Union Plus site has a secure certificate to secure the limited personal information users can choose to provide through the online profile. Union Privilege does not collect full credit card numbers or Social Security Numbers on the Union Plus website. No sales take place directly on unionplus.org, but we link to program provider sites where financial transactions and specific program account information (e.g. the Union Plus Credit Card site) is available.
Union Privilege has implemented technology to secure information that is between your computer and the Union Plus site. Your information is protected with sophisticated encryption technology known as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol.
Union Privilege takes certain security measures to help protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data. These measures include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures, as well as physical security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems where we store personal data.
Union Privilege uses personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected and in accordance with this Policy. We restrict access to personal information to Union Privilege employees, affiliates, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to market, operate, develop or improve our services. We also periodically share profile data with your union.
Some of the Union Plus program providers (linked from the Union Plus site) collect credit card information online; while Union Privilege does not directly control the sites developed by our program providers, we ask providers to ensure that any information about union members is treated with the proper security and privacy.
When you click to unaffiliated third-party sites, Union Privilege is not responsible for, and has no control over, the information collection or privacy practices of that site. It is important that you review and understand the privacy policies posted on any linked sites you visit before volunteering any of your personal information.
We may be required to disclose user information pursuant to lawful requests, such as subpoenas or court orders, or in compliance with applicable laws. Additionally, we may share account or other information when we believe it is necessary to comply with the law, to protect our interests or property, to prevent fraud or other illegal activity perpetrated through the Union Plus service or using the Union Plus name, to prevent bodily harm, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights, property or safety of visitors to our site, our customers, the public or Union Privilege. In the unlikely event that Union Privilege/Union Plus (or substantially all of its assets) is acquired by another entity, information on our visitors would be among the transferred assets.
From time to time, we may use customer information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will post the policy changes to our website to notify you of these changes. If you are concerned about how your information is used, please check back at our website periodically.
