Union Plus Home Mortgage Programs

The Union Plus Mortgage Difference:

  • Unique mortgage assistance exclusively for union families: Unemployment/disability and strike benefits to help you make mortgage payments when you're out of work

The mortgage assistance program has provided over $64 million in interest free loans to union members, helping them keep their home loans current.
  • Closing costs are kept down by capping non-third party fees at $100. Fees from other lenders range from $500 to over $1,000.
  • Union Plus first-time homebuyer awards provide $500 in groceries from a union store.
  • Call 1-800-416-5786 - all calls are answered in the U.S. - or contact your local Union Plus Mortgage Coordinator to get started.
  • Facing financial hardship and getting behind on your mortgage payments?  Contact the Save My Home Hotline at 1-866-490-5361.

Testimonial

Anita Duesenberg had rented all her life. She had been to a few banks, and either they told her she wasn’t qualified, or they just didn’t make her feel comfortable. “I needed information and assurance,” she says, “and with some of those fast talkers I was never sure if they really were looking out for our best interests.”

But everything started to click when she called the union mortgage program, provided by Chase. “I have more confidence in the union,” she says. “I know they’re looking out for me. Plus, Chase is a strong, stable bank. And when I learned that a union mortgage could save me money on closing, I knew everything had happened for a reason.”

Duesenberg learned how a union mortgage could save her money, provide a competitive rate and offer the Mortgage Assistance Program.

Mortgage Program Features

  • Your Chase mortgage expert can make a side-by-side comparison between the Union Plus mortgage and the other mortgages you may be considering.
  • We listen. Tell us your questions or concerns and we’ll help you figure out how much money you need up front to buy a house, help you choose the loan that best suits your needs and supply you with the estimates on the required down payment and closing costs.
  • Call to check on getting pre-approved — which gives you an advantage over other buyers by allowing you to house hunt as a “cash buyer”.
  • Advice from Chase mortgage experts and an easy application process right over the phone or in-person.
  • Down payments as low as 5% - and even lower for qualified buyers.
  • Special programs for first-time homebuyers.
  • A strike and unemployment/disability fund.
  • Mortgage loans to purchase or refinance your home.
  • Parents and children of union members are also eligible for Union Plus mortgages.
  • Interest rates, calculators and other resources for home buyers are available here.

Concerned about the
credit crisis?

We protect union members. Chase, the provider of Union Plus Mortgages, has

  • No negative amortizing loans.
  • Full disclosure for adjustable rate mortgages.
  • To make sure union members have the right product, every loan must pass a net benefit test to make sure loans are in the borrower’s best interest.
  • All borrowers are encouraged to contact Chase for a “mortgage check-up” to make sure that their mortgage is still right for them.

In fact, 92% of Union Plus Mortgage holders have fixed-rate loans, meaning that union members in our program are less exposed to the dangers of the current mortgage crisis.

Home foreclosures are up. Are you at risk? If you are facing financial trouble, you may be at risk of missing a mortgage payment. Falling behind on your payments would mean even more trouble for you. The Union Plus Save My Home Hotline may be able to help. Don't wait until it's too late — call 1-866-490-5361, any time day or night.

The Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) provides the public with loan data that can be used to assess how financial institutions are serving the housing needs of their communities.

Are you struggling with debt? Find resources and tools to help at UnionDebtHelp.org. And call Union Plus Credit Counseling at 1-877-833-1745 for a free budget analysis and advice.

FAQs

A: Contact your Chase mortgage expert. They will be happy to answer all of your home-buying questions-from how much house you can afford, to what type of mortgage will best suit your needs.

Q: What does it take to get approved for a mortgage?

A: Ideally, you should have a good credit history, a record of stable employment and savings for a down payment. Contact your Chase mortgage expert.

Q: How much money do I need upfront to buy a house?

A: You will need cash for the down payment and the closing costs. Some mortgage lenders, on average, require at least 10% down, but Union Plus Mortgage and Real Estate lets you buy a house for 5% down (and as little as 3% for qualified buyers).

A: Your Union Plus program counselor can make a side-by-side comparison between the union mortgage and other mortgages you may be considering. Contact your Chase mortgage expert.
