5 Union Plus Credit Card benefits that put more union support in your wallet
The Union Plus Credit Card from Capital One is created exclusively with union members in mind.
The holidays are fast approaching, and in all the hustle and bustle of the season, it’s easy to take for granted just how much we use our credit cards — especially online. With so much online shopping, how can you protect yourself and your hard-earned money from scams, security breaches and other threats? One way is by using virtual card numbers for secure online purchases with the Union Plus Credit Card.
Virtual card numbers are easy to set up and simple to use. It’s basically a replacement number you can use online instead of the number on your physical credit card. Like your physical credit card number, it has 16 digits, an expiration date and a three-digit security code. All charges and rewards show up on your card account just like normal, but you’re better protected against fraud and security breaches.
How can a virtual card number protect me?
- Enhanced safety: You can set up a single virtual card number to use for all your online shopping. For even more security, you can generate a unique virtual card number for each online merchant that can only be used for that specific merchant. So, you could have one number for a streaming subscription, one for a food delivery app, one for an online retailer. If one of those merchants suffers a security breach, your virtual card number wouldn’t work anywhere else.
- Spend limits: You can set spend limits for your virtual numbers and even create a number for a single use. This is a great tool for sticking to a holiday budget, preventing unauthorized large transactions, or controlling spending on accounts you may share with others, like your kids.
- You're in control: You can lock or delete a virtual card number whenever you want without affecting your physical card or other virtual card numbers. This puts you in complete control of when and how a virtual card number is used, while still allowing you to use your physical card and any other virtual card numbers.
- Added conveniences: Your virtual card numbers will continue to work even if your physical card is lost, damaged or stolen. Plus, if your physical card number changes, your virtual cards will remain active. This means you won't have to go through the hassle of updating all your subscriptions or digital wallets just because your physical card number changes.
